The retirement of HNH Foundation’s founding President, Sandi Van Scoyoc, in the spring of 2014 marked the end of a 16- year era shaped largely by her vision and leadership. The Board of Trustees has used this milestone as an opportunity to look deeply at
the Foundation’s successes, funding priorities and organizational structure, and to formulate a vision for the Foundation’s future.
Working with facilitator Amy Lockwood of Full Circle Consulting, we explored some fundamental questions: Should the Foundation remain an independent organization, or consider merging with another funding entity? How can our grantmaking achieve deeper impact? Should we change our funding priorities? How can our past successes and lessons inform our grantmaking as we move forward? What kind of leadership do we need for both our Board and staff?
