Course in Trauma-Informed Care Offered for the Health Care Workforce

Through funding from the New Hampshire Children’s Health Foundation, the University of New Hampshire Institute for Health Policy and Practice has developed a self-guided online training program, Trauma-Informed Care for Healthcare Professionals.

This course is designed to offer anyone involved in patient care a comprehensive, practical, and flexible learning experience aimed at enhancing trauma-informed care and promoting resilience in healthcare settings.

This course was developed following a 9 pilot site quality improvement practice that took place across New Hampshire over four years. Methods, best practices and participant feedback were used to guide the online training program.

The goals of the course are:

  1. Understand trauma and its effects on children, families, and health care workers.
  2. Learn practical strategies for trauma-informed care.
  3. Enhance ability to recognize and respond to trauma-related behaviors.
  4. Foster resilience in patients and healthcare staff.
